Tree & Shrub

Trees and shrubs are arguably the most important features in your yard. You plant them hoping they will be around for generations to come so it’s important to take care of them. You want to be sure these valuable investments are protected against the forces of nature. That’s why our full-season tree and shrub care program consists of six applications that will promote root growth, improve foliage, and fend off pests and disease.

Tree and Shrub Program

Early Spring: An application of balanced fertilizer will promote color, health, and give them a boost as they come out of dormancy.

Late Spring: Dormant oil is applied to trees and shrubs to help kill overwintering insects and their eggs.

Early Summer: Liquid insecticide is applied to control disease-carrying insects that feed on your trees and shrubs.

Late Summer: As summer winds down we will apply another liquid insecticide to keep insects away.

Early Fall: As fall begins we will apply dormant oil to protect your trees and shrubs from overwintering insects, larvae, and eggs that will harm your trees in the spring.

Late Fall: A last-minute fertilizer is applied before winter to promote root growth and help the plant prepare for winter.

Each round of our program is tailor-made specifically for your trees and shrubs. Our trained professionals will walk you through step-by-step and keep you constantly updated on our progress.

Emerald Ash Borer Program

Native to Asia, the Emerald Ash Borer has devastated ash trees all across the country. Since 2002 these beetles have wiped out almost 100 million trees. Yes, they are here in Buffalo too and stand to threaten 900 million of our own ash trees.

The EAB is spread far and wide through the transportation of firewood and other infested wood products. So please, do not move firewood unless it has been heat treated.

These pests destroy trees in their larval stage. The larvae feed beneath the bark and cut off the transportation of water and nutrients up the tree. This begins a long slow death for the ash tree that could drag out for 2-4 years.

Signs that your ash tree is infested are:

  • Yellowing of leaves from the top down
  • New growth sprouting around the trunk
  • Canopy dieback

Luckily you don’t have to sit back and watch your stately ash tree slowly succumb to these green insects. Seasonal Lawncare can protect your trees with a special trunk injection that will kill the Emerald Ash Borer and protect your investment.

Here are some answers to the questions we hear the most.

You will begin to notice some cupping and curling of the weeds within two to three days. It will take approximately four weeks for your weeds to disappear completely.

All fertilizers will need to be watered. It’s also helpful to water after an application of insect control as this will water it into the thatch and root zone where insects like to call home. Pre-emergent crabgrass control works best when watered in. Liquid weed controls, once dried, should be fine. Once a liquid application is dry, the weed control has entered the weed and has already begun to take effect. Remember, our treatment programs are guaranteed to work so, if you should ever have a concern, please contact our office.

Waiting 24-48 hours before mowing will give you the best results.

Returning clippings evenly to the lawn (no heavy clumping) returns valuable nutrients to the lawn.

It is recommended that people and pets stay off the lawn until the treatment is dry.  Depending on weather could be as soon as an hour. NYS would prefer you limit your activity for 24 hours.

Seasonal Lawncare’s products are safer than many household cleaners, offering a cost-effective alternative to DIY methods. Once dry, pets can safely resume normal activities, providing peace of mind.

No. The technician will leave an invoice along with any important information and/or instructions regarding your treatment, such as watering, mowing, observations and concerns.

Payment is due upon receipt of the treatment and invoice (unless you prepaid at the beginning of the season). You have 30 days to pay to avoid scheduling delays. After 30 days a minimum late charge of $12 will be added to your account.

Absolutely! Our treatment programs come with guaranteed results. If you ever have a concern, a Seasonal Lawncare manager is available to address the concern at no charge – typically 24 to 48 hours after receiving the call.

With a fertilizer or insect treatment, seeding can be done immediately. Pre- and post-emergent weed treatments will restrict seeding for 3 to 12 weeks, according to label instructions.

Yes, we do! Our organic program has the same timing as our non-organic program. We use the highest-quality organic-based fertilizer (please note that organic fertilizers do not kill weeds). Organic applications are applied in liquid and granular form at the same price as our non-organic programs. Please contact us for more information.
